The Fraternal Order of Eagles (FOE) is a civic-minded charitable organization founded in 1898 by a small group of theater owners in Seattle WA. It was originally known as the Order of Good Things, but as it quickly grew the Bald Eagle was adopted as a organizational logo and the name was changed to the Fraternal Order of Eagles. Eagles “Aerie” or Lodge No. 455 was founded in New Castle in c1902. The group initially met in the old Opera House on South Mercer Street. Sometime in 1919 they moved into their new home (shown above) on South Jefferson Street, which was enlarged with a new addition that opened in early 1950. The Eagles Lodge No. 455 is still in active service. (Jul 2013) Full Size
