North Plain Grove U. P. Church & Cemetery - Plain Grove PA

Text Coming Soon!

In October 1859 a group of parishioners from the Plain Grove Presbyterian Church (South Plain Grove) split off and organized their own congregation – which came to be known as the Plain Grove United Presbyterian Church (North Plain Grove). They held their initial meetings at several locations before a church (shown above) was erected about a mile north of the older church they once attended. A cemetery was also started on the grounds. The church served the local community for many decades and celebrated its 100th anniversary in 1959. I believe the churches were reunited (through a national merger) in 1958 as the Plain Grove United Presbyterian Church, but maintained the two churches known as North Plain Grove and South Plain Grove. They also began sharing a pastor in 1964. I believe the North Plain Grove building was closed by early 1986 and its members were basically absorbed into the South Church – which became known simply as the Plain Grove Presbyterian Church. The North Plain Grove building was soon razed and all that remains is the old cemetery. (c1911) Full Size

  1. I have been trying repeatedly to contact someone at the cemetery about putting my mothers ashes with her mother who is buried in your cemetery. I need to know what I would need to do. Please get back to me.
