Old Photos - Scott Twnp (Lawrence Co) PA

Text Coming Soon!

This old photo is marked as, “Home of Robert & Drusilla Campbell. Grandparents of Floyd R. Dean. Scott Twp, Lawrence County, Pa.” Not exactly sure where this was located, but I know that Floyd Dean and other family members lived in New Brighton. In 1815 a man named Zachariah Dean came from Maryland and settled a large tract along what is now Dean Road off of Route 108, and his heirs lived there for many years. Campbell’s owned property in McCaslin, on Route 108 just near the border with Hickory Twnp. I found a mention in the New Castle News in May 1892 that reads, “Drusilla Campbell, one of the oldest inhabitants of Scott Township, is in a very deplorable condition having for some time suffering from affectious of the heart.” (c1905) Full Size

  1. Drusilla Campbell was one of my family members on my dad’s side. Can’t quite remember the connection? I believe she may have been my grandmother Myers’ grandmother (Elizabeth – ‘Lib’Myers; wife of Roy Wesley Myers)?
I simply know that a running joke in the family, when a girl was born, was if you were going to name her after the combined names of the great grandmothers ‘Daisy Drusilla’ (combining Daisy Myers and Drusilla Campbell).
Also from what I remember, the Campbell farm was the location of the current Lawrence County Fairground

  2. Zachariah is buried in the Dean Cemetery on the old farm. His heirs still own a small part of the original property and live in the house he built.
